In a statement, the association cited the statements made by the director of internal medicine emergencies at Hospital S. João, Nélson Pereira, when he said that the “situation is serious” and that they arrive “at 08:00 each day with no vacancy in the hospital”.
“PRO.VAR understands that this is the time for the return of masks inside establishments”, reads the press release.
“We are concerned, as restaurants have always prioritised safety and we want to keep confidence high. On the other hand, workers in the restaurant sector are very exposed to a large movement of people, for that reason we defend the return to the mandatory use of masks for customers and workers”.

People should decide for themselves if they want to mask. Studies have shown that masks do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, so if you wanna wear one because you are scared, go ahead. I'll be happily maskless for the rest of my life. I have a strong immune system. Can we please just move on from this nonsense!

I can't believe that after all we've discovered in the past several years that the 3 above people can be so ignorant of the SCIENTIFIC FACTS. Your government has studied them and are trying to protect you. It has NOT been proven that masks don't work. Breakthrough ( those vaxed with boosters) happen because people are wearing the thin ineffective light blue mask and not the K & KN95 double thick masks with the spray deterrent in-between and how could you be so narcissistic as to say my immune system is strong so I'm not wearing a mask but if I'm A-typical and pass it on to you with a weaker immune system it's ok. Get over yourselves with your MISINFORMATION of SCIENTIFIC FACTS; THIS is why Covid is spreading again because you couldn't wait till it vanished and had to spread the tine air particles NOT wearing a mask. Do some research instead of believing something someone on Facebook spread to you lemmings!

Maybe the few that run the Associação Nacional de Restaurantes want this but if you asked all restaurant owners and staff they would say no.

Reply to Wes: if cheap mass-produced masks could stop the spread of viruses and bacteria then we would not have had any diseases at all in the whole world. Your comment lacks logic, what you are saying is that the vaccine does not work at all when you claim that masks are needed. All genuine vaccines guarantee 100 percent protection against, but is it not strange that the covid 19 vaccine does not protect against infection and also spread and masks must also be used?
I have not taken a single test or vaccine or used masks or sprayed or washed hands and I have been in environments with lots of people for the last 3 years and I have not been sick not even colds but people who have taken 2,3 or 4 and more of these injections are now sick all the time, can you explain this?
And please go to the manufacturer of N95 masks it is clear in the technical specification that N95 can not filter viruses either.
