“The Covid-19 epidemic maintains a very high incidence, although with a decreasing trend. The impact on hospitalizations shows a decreasing trend, as well as the specific mortality” due to this disease, says the document from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).

It is expected that the decrease in demand for health care will continue, but surveillance of the epidemiological situation in the country must be maintained, warns the document, which continues to recommend individual protection measures, booster vaccination and frequent communication of these measures to the population.

The DGS and INSA indicate that there has been a downward trend in hospital occupancy by cases of Covid-19, with 1,441 hospitalized on Monday, 17% less than on the same day of the previous week.

The specific mortality by covid-19 was at 37.8 deaths within 14 days per one million inhabitants, also with a decreasing trend, although this value is still above the threshold of 20 deaths defined by the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC).
