In a statement, the PJ adds that the extradition comes within the scope of a European arrest warrant, issued by the Judicial Court of Santarém.

“The investigation was carried out by the Judiciary Police, through the National Counter-Terrorism Unit, for the practice, between 2007 and 2010, in several cities of the national territory, of several crimes of aggravated theft, in goldsmith establishments, conducted with great violence”, is mentioned in the note.

The PJ also adds that for these facts, another foreign citizen, who was part of the same criminal group, was recently extradited to Portugal to serve his sentence.

The detainee was handed over to the PJ in Zurich by the Swiss authorities.
