In the girls’ department, Emily dethroned 2021’s most popular name, Fiadh, to take the top spot.
Jack has been the top boy’s name since 2007, bar in 2016 when James took the top spot. Rounding out the top five on the boys’ list were Noah, James, Rían, and Charlie.
After Emily, the girls’ top five names were Grace, Fiadh, Sophie, and Lily.
There were six new entries to the top 100: Hailey, Phoebe, Ayda, and Éala for girls; Blake and Cody for boys.
There were 4,016 different boys’ names in 2022, and 4,966 different girls’ names.
Jack was the most popular boys’ name for the sixth year in a row in 2022.

Emily was the most popular name for girls, replacing Fiadh. Emily last claimed the top spot in 2019.
