According to a statement on the website of the National Maritime Authority, the alert was received at 2:24 pm and a vessel from the Lifeguard Station of Ferragudo was sent to the location with elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão on board.

Upon arrival at the scene, the authorities found that the victim "had suspicions of having suffered a dislocation in a lower limb after having landed on the beach, while kayaking, and the crew of the Lifeguard Station proceeded to immobilise and rescue the victim, with the support of members of the Maritime Police", adds the note.

The victim was transported to Benagil beach, where members of the Lagoa Volunteer Firefighters were waiting to help and transport the victim to a hospital.
