The company’s research showed Ireland had the 19th largest increase in rates of recycling across Europe between 2012 and 2021. The increase has brought Ireland’s total rate of household recycling was calculated at 40.8%.

The biggest jump in recycling was Slovakia (+265%), followed by Poland (+236%) and Latvia (+202%).

On the other end of the table, Denmark (-19%) and Sweden (-16%) both declined in their recycling rates.

Romania had the lowest rate of household recycling, at just over 11%. This represented a 24% decrease in household recycling rates in the country since 2011.
