A gold-backed digital currency has been adopted by the Zimbabwean central bank which aims to provide an alternative to the hyperinflationary Zimbabwean dollar for storing savings.

Companies can purchase tokens for a minimum of US$5000, while individuals can buy fractions of them for US$10. This currency’s price follows the international standard for the price of gold.
