Since February, French air traffic control workers have been going on strike intermittently, closing French airspace whenever they do so to both flights coming to and from France and flights flying over.

This combined with the closed airspace over Russia and Ukraine means airlines have increasingly little space to work with, which will prove a challenge this summer.
