The data shows that, between April and June, the population employed in the Accommodation and Restoration and Similar sectors represented 6.7% of the total economy, which represents an increase of 0.4 p.p. compared to the second quarter of last year.

Among the data released, there is also information on the qualifications of workers in sectors linked to tourism, through which it is possible to see that, in the second quarter, 54% of the population employed in the accommodation and catering sectors and similar had secondary education and higher, which translates into an increase of 5.0 p.p. compared to the same period in 2022.

According to travelBI, this data confirms “the trend of increasing qualifications of workers in the sector registered in recent years”, since, in 2017, the percentage of workers in these sectors with higher qualifications was only 40%.
