“Forest exports increased for the second year in a row, reaching a record of 7.1 billion in 2022 – the highest value ever”, revealed, in a statement, Biond – Association of Forest-Based Bioindustries.

The sector thus contributed to a trade balance surplus of 3,300 million euros.

Pulp and paper stand out as the products that most boosted forestry exports, having been responsible, in the year in question, for more than 3,800 million euros in international sales, which corresponds to 54% of the total.

“The forest-based bioindustry, which Biond represents, is shaping the path of reinvention of many areas of the national industry”, pointed out, in a statement, the general director of Biond, Gonçalo Almeida Simões, highlighting that the results are accompanied by a “strong performance” in terms of innovation and sustainability.

Biond represents Altri, The Navigator Company, DS Smith and Renova.
