Scientists in Germany have discovered that the ageing process is correlated to the speed and accuracy of the process of transcription, where a cell makes an RNA copy of a DNA strand.

Experiments in mice and worms show that as they age, animals’ transcription gets quicker, which leads to more errors being made in the process, leading to late-life diseases.
