The north region and part of the center are no longer in a drought situation, while to the south, the districts of Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro have several areas in severe drought.

At the end of September, 54.9% of the territory was in a drought situation, but no area was in extreme drought, contrary to what happened in August, with 97% of mainland Portugal in drought, 27.1% of which were in an extreme situation.

According to the bulletin, at the end of last month, 11.3% of the territory was in mild drought, 26.9% in moderate drought and 17% in severe drought.

The drought index varies between extreme rain and extreme drought.

According to the bulletin, the month of September was classified as hot and rainy.

The average air temperature was 20.65 degrees Celsius, 0.43 degrees more than the normal value, and the maximum and minimum temperatures were also higher than normal.

Last month was the 3rd wettest September since 2000, with a total of 69.1 millimetres, corresponding to 164% of the normal value.
