PJ police have participated in searches in Portugal and Brazil, in a case that is investigating suspected corruption at the Consulate General of Portugal in Rio de Janeiro and involves a scheme for the illicit legalisation of documents to obtain Portuguese nationality.

In a statement, the PJ explains that the investigations are focused on suspected crimes of passive and active corruption, economic participation in business, embezzlement, illegitimate access, usurpation of functions, abuse of power, concussion, falsification of documents and abuse of power.
The searches took place in Portugal, in the city of Lisbon, and in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro and Saquarema.

I remember travelling 4 years ago to a European country that is now (wrongly) accused of being far-right by certain individuals in PT, and the border officer, after looking at my passport, asking me: "Are you a real Portuguese, or a fake Portuguese?". (I'm a real Portuguese)
