An earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale was felt yesterday, in the late afternoon, in some municipalities in the Algarve, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The earthquake, with its epicentre located around 40 kilometres southwest of Faro, was registered at 6:16 pm, and was felt in the municipalities of Faro, Lagoa and Loulé, according to a statement from IPMA.
“This earthquake, according to the information available so far, did not cause any personal or material damage”.
