According to the climatological bulletin available on the IPMA website, the month of February was classified as extremely hot in relation to air temperature and rainy in relation to precipitation.

It was the hottest February since 1931, with an average air temperature (12.47 degrees), 2.55 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

As for the average value of the maximum air temperature, it was the 3rd highest since 1931 and in terms of minimums, it was the 5th highest since 1931 and the 2nd since 2000.

At the beginning of March, the Copernicus Climate Change Service revealed that the month of February was the hottest globally since records have been recorded.

The global average surface air temperature in February was 13.54°C, according to the institution based in Bonn, Germany, in its monthly bulletin.

Since June 2023, every month the monthly temperature record has been broken.

The IPMA Climatological Bulletin also states that in February, with regard to the percentage of water in the soil, there was an increase in values, especially in the North and Center regions.

On the last day of February, 14% of the territory was in meteorological drought, 14% in mild drought and 0.2% in moderate drought.
