"Before the official release of the ATP Tour calendar for 2025, the organization of the Millennium Estoril Open has clarified that, for now, the Portuguese tournament will not be included in the schedule", reads a statement.

The organisation of the only Portuguese tournament on the main men's world tennis circuit promises, however, "and together with the ATP Tour", to continue "exploring all avenues for the tournament to take place in 2025 and following years, thus continuing a long and successful collaboration".

"As previously announced by the ATP Tour, the growth of all ATP Masters 1000 events from one week to 12-day tournaments (with the exception of Monte-Carlo and Paris), along with the upgrade of three ATP 500 tournaments, implies a smaller number of weeks available on the calendar. In the case of the Millennium Estoril Open, discussions are continuing to find the best possible solution, taking into account the new schedule that will come into effect in 2025", the organizers further clarify.

The Estoril Open was held between 1990 and 2014 at the Complexo Desportivo do Jamor, in Oeiras, under a different organization, having moved in 2015 to the Clube de Ténis do Estoril, under the umbrella of 3LOVE.

"The reformulation of the calendar and the consequent increase in weeks in the Masters 1,000 tournaments has an inevitable impact on the number of weeks available on the ATP Tour calendar in 2025 --- but, in the case of the Millennium Estoril Open, efforts are continuing to find the best solution and continue to organize the biggest national tennis event in the future", declared the tournament director, João Zilhão, quoted in a statement.

The 2024 edition of the Estoril Open starts on March 30th, with the main round starting on April 1st.
