An explosives deactivation team had been sent on Tuesday to the Israeli embassy in Portugal after it received a suspicious envelope.

A source from the Lisbon PSP Metropolitan Command (Comtelis) told Lusa, at 00:30 today, that after investigations no explosives were found.

The team assigned to the embassy has already left the premises and the case has been passed to the Judiciary Police (PJ), added the same source.

The Israeli Embassy in Lisbon had confirmed, that it had received a “suspicious envelope” and called the PSP to investigate.

In a note on social network X, the Israeli diplomatic mission in Portugal added that all embassy staff were safe.

The news had been reported by CNN Portugal, which stated that the Israeli Embassy in Lisbon received an envelope, originating in France, which contained black powder inside and an allusion to Palestine.
