“The operation was completed successfully. There are no longer any boats on Praia Grande de Ferragudo, which constituted a safety hazard and constraint for bathing activities,” Luís Encarnação, the mayor of Lagoa, told Lusa.

The ship owner was responsible for the operation which was carried out, with the help of a tug boat which came from the Port of Sines.

Members of the local command of the Portimão Maritime Police monitored the work to remove this last vessel, according to a statement from the National Maritime Authority (AMN).

Last Tuesday, the Lagoa Chamber already successfully removed three of the four vessels that were stranded and had been immobilised on the beach in recent months due to bad weather.
