The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has rejected the arguments used by six young Portuguese people who sued Portugal and 31 other countries for inaction in the fight against climate change.

Upon reading the decision, in Strasbourg (France), the ECHR decided that the case was inadmissible with regard to the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the mentioned countries.
The court also ruled that the applicants had not exhausted all legal remedies they had in Portugal before appealing to this European body.
