Taxpayers have already submitted more than two million IRS declarations, according to data from the Finance Portal. Following adjustments to the retention table, refunds will be smaller than usual and if the amount to be received is less than ten euros, it will not be paid.

The data available on the Finance Portal indicates that a total of 2,065,048 IRS declarations have already been delivered to the Tax and Customs Authority (AT). Of these, 1,622,610 were submitted by taxpayers with income from work or pensions only and the remainder refer to other types, according to a report by ECO.

The withholding tax tables have been adjusted so that the amount of tax withheld is close to that actually payable. Because of these changes, the refund (if you are entitled to one) will tend to be lower.

The tax office also states that “there is no place for reimbursement when due to liquidation, even if additional, reform or revocation of liquidation, the amount to be refunded is less than 10 euros”. This way, if the refund you were entitled to falls below this limit, you will not receive it.

This year's IRS campaign, referring to 2023 income, started on April 1st and runs until June 30th.
