Representing an investment of around 12 million euros, the project involved the redevelopment of the sports complex and surrounding areas, as well as the creation of a garden on the roof of the building.

"The new Lidl store opens its doors today next to the Restelo Stadium, in Lisbon, a unique and innovative project, in a reference area of the capital, which was born from a partnership between the retail chain and 'Os Belenenses', a historic football club in the city", can be read in a statement.

The supermarket group explains that "this is the 16th Lidl store in the centre of Lisbon and will be open daily between 8am and 9:30pm".

"With an investment of around 12 million euros and Lidl's clear commitment to the community, the project included, in addition to building the store, the redevelopment of the sports complex, with the opening of a new store for the Clube de Football 'Os Belenenses', as well as urbanisation works in the entire surrounding area, which involved the creation of new infrastructure networks, new streets, and accesses, allowing better circulation and road safety and more public lighting, among other structural interventions".
