Fairs and markets permitted with Town hall authorisation

The Prime Minister previously announced the suspension of markets and fairs on 31 October in 121 Portuguese municipalities, but the complaints it raised, made the Government transfer this responsibility to the municipalities’ mayors.

According to the Lusa News Agency, the “rule is the prohibition of fairs and markets, unless allowed” by the mayor. For these fairs to take place, “security conditions and compliance with the guidelines defined by the Directorate-General for Health” must still be verified.

The ban announced on 31 October was the subject of criticism by marketers and even some mayors. Furthermore, they even threatened protests in Lisbon.

The Association of Fairs and Markets of the North Region considered that the suspension of fairs and markets as "unfair" and it would be "catastrophic" for thousands of families and businesses.

Strange decision to have fairs.

Citizens in these areas are to stay at home, except for authorised travel, such as shopping, work, education and exercise.
=
This is not necessary shopping to get food home, This is pleaseure. It should be stopped. We should not do anything for fun, that create a lot of contacts between people. Only what is really needed.
Comercial aspects are not at all so important as health
(and there is also a cost for sickness.)
