Oliveira will be coming to the third race in the championship in 14th place in the table, after he finished in 13th and 15th place in the first two races.

An electronic problem with the RC16 instrument panel left Miguel Oliveira without any information about tyre temperatures, engine speeds or an indication as to when to change gears at the previous race, at the Doha Grand Prix. In this race he impressed when he started in 12th position but was able to move up the field to third before the technical problems saw him sliding back down.

Oliveira is arriving in the Algarve enthusiastic about the race and filled with confidence following his win at the same circuit last year and is hoping to replicate this success.

A victory or, at least a podium finish is hoped to give the Portuguese rider the injection of confidence that he needs to push himself forward in the championship overall.

This will be the 16th edition of the Grand Prix of Portugal.
