According to the October Economic Bulletin, Banco de Portugal points out that the unemployment rate should be 6.8% in 2021 (expected 7.2% in June).

Employment is expected to grow by 2.6%, an increase compared to the previously expected figure of 1.3%.

The institution, led by Mário Centeno, today maintained the prospect of economic growth of 4.8% for 2021.

According to the document, "the Portuguese economy has grown 4.8% in 2021, approaching the pre-pandemic level at the end of the year", considering that "the recovery of the activity reflects the control of the pandemic, through the vaccination process – with positive effects on the confidence of economic agents – and the maintenance of expansionist economic policies".
