There are many who collect shells, and who can spend hours looking on the beach for them and of course displaying them. This book is a fitting homage to those who find them beautiful.

Joyce Tenneson's detailed photos are a reminder of beauty that exists all around us. The photos are accompanied by quotes that are inspired by the images. They are photographed on a background of black velvet which enhances the unique aspect of each shell. The names of the shells are listed at the back of the book which is handy. There are many shells you may never see but you can now enjoy all in one place.

The author Joyce, is a respected photographer and is the author of twelve books, including Flower Portraits, Light Warriors, and the best-selling Wise Women.

This really is a stunning book and will appeal to all shell collectors and ocean lovers.

I am one of those who since my youth and now during my long walks on our Portuguese wonderful beaches of white sand and not so wild waves (if you guessed the East Algarve coast you are absolutely right!) constantly looks down and still collects shells the vast and wonderful sea does not want anymore! But I noticed, with dismay, that there aren't as many anymore as it used to be in the not so far away past! Too many collectors? Too much pollution? Excessive fishing? Or, it might just be the climate change, the reason of choice for those who, alas, little do to preserve our environment! Anyway, I digress! Later on, while in Nazaré, I saw window shops loaded with beautiful and large shells! Unbelievable! Entering and checking prices I noticed with dismay, again, that those shells are not from the Portuguese sea anymore! They are now imported from far away places the Portuguese navigators visited for the first time half a millennium ago! What a disappointment! Note: This happened before the C-19 invasion!
