Regarding the number of deaths due to Covid-19, the data shows that it decreased to 453 in July, 525 less compared to June 2022, representing 4.3% of total deaths.

Compared to July 2021, there was an increase of 181 deaths due to Covid-19.

According to the INE publication "Vital Statistics -- Monthly Data", 74,639 people died in this period, 1,480 fewer than in the same period in 2021 (-1.9%).

Preliminary data from INE also point to an increase in births in the first half of 2022 (38,580) compared to the same period in 2021 (38,050), representing an additional 530 live births (+1.4%).

In June 2022, there were 6,532 live births, representing a value close to that of June 2021 (6,546).

"In the month of June 2022, the natural balance (difference between the number of live births and the number of deaths in a given period of time) was -3,649, worsening compared to the same month of 2021, when it recorded the value of -1,663", says the INE.

It also mentions that, in the first half of 2022, the accumulated value of the natural balance was minus 25,265, presenting a reduction in relation to the value observed in the same period of 2021 (-29,239).

INE data also counts the number of marriages, revealing that, in June 2022, 3,985 were celebrated, corresponding to an increase of 23% compared to the number of marriages performed in June 2021 (745 more).

In the first half of 2022, 13,904 marriages were celebrated, 5,231 more than in the same period of 2021.
