The 18.6-kilometre competition between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia was won by Moreira(Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor), in 25.07 minutes, 20 seconds less than Portuguese António Carvalho (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor) and 1.04 seconds less than Spanish Alejandro Marque (Atum General-Tavira-Maria Nova Hotel).

After having been second in 2021, Moreira held his first victory in the Volta a Portugal by overtaking teammate Frederico Figueiredo, who finished second, at 1.09 minutes.

In third place finished another Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor cyclist, Portuguese António Carvalho, 2.35 minutes behind.
