According to a note from the Cape Verdean Government, the protocol will be signed at the start of the three-day official visit that the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of Portugal, Ana Mendes Godinho, will carry out in the archipelago, and “happens within the scope of the strengthening of cooperation ties in the Labour and Social Security sector”, without giving further details.

The Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia e Silva, had already announced on October 5 that the Government was negotiating with Portugal an agreement that guarantees protection and safeguarding of rights under the employment contract for Cape Verdean workers who want to join labour mobility.
