When it comes to the future, Ivan Gomes, told The Portugal News that they have hopes to “expand the restaurant and to reshape and modernise its interior.” With Ivan adding “That is not to say that it is too traditional but our décor is traditional and needs updating, which is why we are putting in place, that second step.”

Ivan went on to explain that they hope to expand their current terrace dining area, “We have a wonderful terrace, which is mainly used in the Summer, but that, unfortunately, has a capacity limit which we would like to extend.”

“We are reinventing Figueiral restaurant, and through our conquests, such as gaining a new image for the restaurant and the positioning of the brand, it is clear that we want to reach more customers and restaurant critics. We would like more people to come and get to know Figueiral Restaurant and all that we have to offer because we have a lot to give.”

Ivan also told The Portugal News that the Algarve has a huge problem with seasonality, “I believe that in order for our restaurant to work to its maximum potential we need to receive clients all year round and not just in the peak seasons, especially due to the sheer size of the restaurant and staff.”

Adding that “We have definitely grown in loyal customers over the years but we have not reached our full potential, we can always do more and we have the possibility to reach more customers.”

“We are not a fine dining house, we are not aspiring to have a Michelin star, however, we have changed over the years in the way that we present our plates.” With Ivan affirming that “Figueiral’s core business focuses on authenticity on the familial side, with clients being warmly welcomed and are made to feel like they are in a familial environment.”

Standing out from the crowd

Quality is something that Figueiral take very seriously, “We have great respect for the customer and the dishes we are serving. So, for us the priority is that the customer leaves satisfied and comes back due to our excellent service, quality of our product and most of all that we are good value for money with what we are serving.” With Ivan adding that “The worst customer we can have is the customer who says everything is fine but never comes back so we do focus our attention on making sure we can welcome repeat customers.”
