"Among the 34.3 million vehicles inspected between January and March 2023, 306.7 thousand infractions were detected, which represents an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period of the previous year", indicates the National Authority of Road Safety (ANSR) in the 24-hour accident report and road inspection for the first quarter of 2023.

According to ANSR, in the first three months of the year, there were increases in the various types of infractions, particularly those relating to speeding (57.9%), infractions due to the absence of child restraint systems (43.1 %), due to lack of insurance (28.2%), lack of seat belts (26.7%), alcohol (9.7%) and cell phone use (6.5%).

The report states that, between January and March, almost 200,000 drivers were fined for speeding, 17,305 for failing to do a mandatory periodic inspection and around 9,000 for drinking too much alcohol.
