The participation of children under 3 in early childcare was, in 2022, well above the EU average (35.7 percent) and already close to the Barcelona national target for 2030 (50.8 percent).

According to data from the Education and Training Monitor 2023, released on 4 December, in Portugal, "attendance at childcare facilities by children under 3 in 2022 (47.5 percent) increased even more compared to 2021 (43.3 percent)".

Among children aged between 3 and 6 years old, the attendance rate at schools was 90.5 percent in 2021, below the EU average (92.5 percent), and there is no data for 2022.

In addition, employment and training had one of the best employment rates in Portugal in 2022, with 83 percent of recent graduates between the ages of 20 and 34 getting a job, above the EU average of 79.7 percent.
