The evolution of prices points to a drop in the price of 95 petrol by up to half a cent per litre. Diesel, on the other hand, will be up to 1.5 cents cheaper. Similarly, at petrol stations next to hypermarkets, "the trend will be for petrol 95 to fall by 0.0032 euros, but also diesel by 0.0125 euros."

Data from the Directorate General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) shows that the average price of a litre of petrol in Portugal is currently 1.675 euros, while diesel is 1.626 euros. However, prices can vary at petrol stations, as the price also takes into account the level of competition, supply and demand in each market and the level of fixed costs at each station.

Over the last five weeks, fuel prices have been falling. Petrol and diesel have dropped by 10 cents per litre, to which will be added the decreases planned for this Monday. Since January, the price of petrol has risen by one cent, while the price of diesel has fallen by just over half a cent per litre.

According to Executive Digest: "The difference in price between Portugal and Spain is due to the tax burden, since without taxes, the price of petrol is cheaper in Portugal. Without taxes, each litre of 95 petrol in Portugal would cost 78.7 cents, which is cheaper than the 83.7 cents in Spain."
