In a statement, the Portuguese Company of Águas Livres (EPAL) said that today (6 March) “work will begin to definitively pave the carriageway on Calçada de Carriche and Avenida Padre Cruz, which will cause restrictions on traffic in the Odivelas-Lisbon direction, between Senhor Roubado and Avenida Rainha Dona Amélia”.

The paving work “is related to the 'Rehabilitation of the Telheiras-Calçada de Carriche Pipeline', which includes the total replacement of one of the main water supply pipes in the city of Lisbon”, the press release mentions.

The project, involving a total investment of 4.7 million euros, aims to reinforce “the reliability of the water supply system”, added the Águas de Portugal group company.

The company, in addition to apologising for the inconvenience, recommended that, whenever possible, alternative routes be used to access the city of Lisbon, such as CRIL [Circular Regional Interior de Lisboa] or through the Grilo tunnel towards the North-South Axis”, for motorists traveling from the A8.
