Summer-like temperatures are forecast for today across Portugal.

Despite it being mid-April, thermometers will reach 29ºC in several regions. Only in the Azores will temperatures remain mild and forecasts point to rain. In the rest of the country, the sun will shine with just a few high clouds.

The hottest areas will be, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), Braga, Leiria, Santarém, Setúbal, and Funchal, with 29ºC.

Lisbon, Sagres, and Faro will reach 28ºC and Viana do Castelo, Porto, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Évora, Beja, and Sines 27ºC.

The coolest districts will be Guarda, with 21ºC, and Vila Real, with maximum temperatures of 23ºC.

However, as IPMA reports, minimum temperatures remain low, with a drastic drop in thermometers expected from day to night. In some districts, such as Braga and Leiria, a fluctuation of 20ºC is even expected, going from a maximum of 29ºC to a minimum of 9ºC.

An identical scenario is expected for Friday and the weekend, with temperatures expected to reach 30ºC in some regions of the country, such as Santarém, on Saturday.
