This month, in an article published on AirlineRatings.com, the organisation which assigns the ratings to airlines revealed that its Top 25 safest airlines included TAP in sixth place, as in 2023, with a seven out of seven-star rating in the safety category. The raking is led by Air New Zealand, with Qantas (first place in 2023) and Virgin Australia completing the podium.

Regarding airline companies in Europe, Finnair is in the first place, followed by British Airways, TAP Air Portugal, Lufthansa/Swiss Group and KLM.

Created in 2013, AirlineRatings.com rates the inflight safety and products of 385 airlines. For this classification, the following factors are considered: accidents in the last two years, audits by aviation and government authorities, the age of fleets and crew training.

In the low-cost segment, with a separate classification, the safest airline for 2024 is Jetstar, among the 20 evaluated, followed by easyJet and Ryanair.
