This initiative was put into Budget 2023 and is aimed to help 1.2 million children during the cost-of-living crisis the Irish public is going through at the moment. This brings the total amount to 240 euro for the month of June.

Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys signed this off earlier in the year. This is on top of the 200 euro bonus towards pensioners, carers, and people with disabilities which was given last April.

Minister Humphreys said: “Child Benefit is an extremely important source of income for thousands of working families. And so, am delighted to announce that I co-signed with Minister of Public Expenditure Paschal O’ Donohue to add 100 euro to the child benefit for the month of June. The extra child benefit will be received in people’s bank accounts tomorrow.”

This addition to the Child Benefit is a part of the 2.2 billion euro worth of support that was in the Budget 2023 to help families cope with the ongoing cost of living crisis.
