"Mercadona physical stores are the ones that most please the Portuguese, followed by El Corte Inglés/Supercor and My Auchan. Regarding online shopping, the greatest satisfaction is with the El Corte Inglés website", according to a report by Notícias ao Minuto.

The study also revealed that more than half of consumers (55%) go to the supermarket once or twice a week, 67% pay with a debit card and 53% visit the same supermarket every week.

74% confirmed that they have never purchased from an online supermarket.

"Pleasure with prices is the factor that most influence consumer satisfaction with supermarket chains, followed by satisfaction with what is purchased and the comfort of the store (space, cleanliness and brightness)".

According to DECO Proteste, "Mercadona stores have a higher rating in relation to comfort, price indication, quality of fish, quality and availability of own brand products and satisfaction with the products purchased", being that "the only factors that bring less satisfaction in this chain are promotions and discounts".

The study also reveals that "own brand items are the most sought after in certain categories and chains", and "in the case of dairy products, merchandise, detergents, hygiene products and cosmetics, most customers prefer Lidl and Mercadona stores and, to a lesser extent, Aldi".
