"I don't have a rigorous number, but the global investment between Lisbon and Valença, if we include the second phase of the Porto - Valença connection, should be around 7 to 8 billion euros", Frederico Francisco told Lusa.
The Deputy Secretary of State for Infrastructure detailed that each section put up for tender will cost around two billion euros, divided into Porto-Oiã, Oiã-Soure, Soure-Carregado, Braga-Valença (including connection between Porto and the Francisco Sá Carneiro airport) and, finally, the airport - Braga.
Asked about the value and its comparison with the estimated cost for the new Lisbon airport, which is around 8 billion euros, Frederico Francisco considered that the money will be "better used" on the railway.
Precisely to connect the high-speed line to the future Lisbon airport, access to the capital planned for the third phase of the project, "depending on where the future airport will be located, can enter from the right bank or the left bank of the Tagus River, always maintaining the possibility of trains arriving in Lisbon via the Northern Line", which will be quadrupled upon arrival in Lisbon to receive high-speed services.
Regarding the connection to Porto airport, asked whether a connection from the current Leixões line to the airport infrastructure would not be enough, the Secretary of State argued that, despite the costs, it is a "difference between [travel time between] Campanhã and the airport takes 10 minutes or takes 40".
they should prioritize a high speed train lisbon to madrid! that would be more beneficial in terms of business and culutural exchange. galicia is beautiful but otherwise a lacking economically speaking, section of spain.

My son, Ted Delano, just spent at least $500,000 Euro rebuilding the house at Calcada Rego Do Lameiro 169. Now we have learned that the High Speed Rail line will be directed right through this home and his home will be demolished. I have been trying to investigate how much work was done on OTHER alternatives. I need help. I can send you a map of where the train leaves from Gaia and runs right through his house. I would like to see this train route run under the bridge between the two cities. Or some other alternative. I am sure that young government professionals who studied these routes, like Frederico Francisco, believe that the neighborhood where my son lives is abandoned. But this is not true! There is tremendous vitality to the neighborhood and there is tremendous potential there! In addition, how could the "professionals" in the Porto city government give permits for my son to do all this work? And others? These professionals MUST have known about the train going through the neighborhood. My son and his wife and his little boy have a wonderful family living in that neighborhood, and before all is lost to this family, the professionals like Frederico Francisco, who created this plan, should be required to submit a written summary of all the other alternatives that they considered, before bulldozing my son's home. His people almost died re-building the structure, and he is genuinely heartbroken at what is happening to him. Please help to investigate and publicize!
