The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) has carried out an inspection operation “Safe Tourism”, from north to south of the country, aimed at Tourist Enterprises and Local Accommodation (AL).

At this time of the year, with the increase in demand for services provided in this area, this operation aimed “to safeguard the health and safety of its users, ensuring safe tourism”, says ASAE in a statement.

In total, 201 economic operators were inspected, and 27 administrative offense proceedings were initiated, with the main infractions being the failure to comply with the process(es) based on the principles of HACCP, the disclosure or sale of unregistered accommodation in tourist resorts or with outdated registration and non-compliance with the complaints book.

The suspension of activity of an economic operator was also determined due to the lack of compliance with the general requirements applicable to AL establishments.

ASAE states that “it will continue to carry out inspection actions, within the scope of its powers, throughout the national territory, in favour of healthy and fair competition between economic operators, while safeguarding food safety and the public health of consumers”.
