AirHelp, a company specialising in the defense of the rights of air passengers, says that punctuality data for Portugal is far below last year’s numbers. In 2022, more than 600 thousand people flew from Portugal and 25% of these suffered some type of disruption on their flight.

According to Publituris, the study indicates that of the more than 500,000 passengers who travelled from one of the Portuguese airports, in the period analysed, only 66% left at the indicated time, while 170,000 passengers suffered some type of disruption to their flight, be it cancellation or delay.

Also according to the analysis, of the total number of passengers who travelled on the nearly four thousand flights operated from Portugal this Easter, 32% were delayed for more than 15 minutes, 1% for more than two hours and only 15 flights were delayed longer to three hours. In addition to these numbers, 48 cancelled flights impacted more than five thousand passengers.

However, in an analysis of the 27 countries that make up the European Union, AirHelp concluded that Portugal was the third least punctual country, with only 66% of passengers not suffering any disruption to their flight.

In the European Union, during the Easter week, more than 70 thousand planes left European airports and more than nine million people took a flight. Of these, 75% (about seven million passengers) flew without suffering any disruption to their flight.
