According to ASAE, the objective of the operation was to “inspect economic operators that sell, in particular, the most sought-after foodstuffs at this time of year”, with “special relevance to the storage and conservation conditions of food”.

In the balance released in a statement, four individuals were arrested, 12 search warrants were executed, three domestic, eight non-domestic, and one digital, which resulted in the seizure of 2.5 tons of meat and meat products, as well as various cutting utensils.

ASAE adds that during 'Operation Easter' 11 criminal proceedings were initiated under the supervision of 189 economic operators, with the clandestine slaughter of animals, price speculation, and fraud on goods being among the main infractions.

The food safety authority also seized food weighing equipment valued at 37,500 euros and ordered the suspension of nine operators.
